Myles Garrett was released from the hospital Monday following a serious car accident. Garrett, who was driving a gray Porsche 911 Turbo S, lost control of the vehicle in Wadsworth, Ohio before rolling the vehicle over. His injuries were “non-life-threatening.”
More details have emerged since the incident including a body cam video released by the Medina County Sherriff’s Office that show Garrett bleeding from his hand but alert and able to walk from the scene.
A statement that has since been released by the Cleveland Browns provides further insight into the extent of the injuries Garrett sustained. A portion of the statement reads: “After medical evaluation today, our team doctors at University Hospitals have concluded that Myles has sustained a shoulder sprain, biceps strain, minor lacerations as well as some bumps and bruises to various other body parts. Myles didn’t suffer any fractures and has also cleared concussion protocol. Currently, our focus is on providing Myles the medical care needed for him to return to football activity. Although we hope to have him back soon, his availability for Sunday’s game in Atlanta will be evaluated by team doctors throughout the week.”
The statement implies that Garrett has a chance to play Sunday on the road vs. the Atlanta Falcons, but his status is ultimately unknown. Also unknown is the status of the unidentified female that was in the vehicle with Myles. The only details that have been revealed regarding the passenger are that her injuries were non-life-threatening as well and that she was treated at a separate hospital.
“Myles has sustained a shoulder sprain, biceps strain, minor lacerations as well as some bumps and bruises to various other body parts. Myles didn’t suffer any fractures and has also cleared concussion protocol.”
Statement from Browns Executive VP and GM Andrew Berry on Myles Garrett
Myles reportedly lost control after swerving to avoid an animal on the road and overcorrected. Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
Garrett’s availability comes into question as the Browns already travel to Atlanta without bookend Jadeveon Clowney for week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons.
