David Njoku and the Cleveland Browns have reached an agreement to make Njoku the 5th highest-paid tight end in the NFL per NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. The Browns had designated Njoku with the franchise tag earlier this year and he has not participated in voluntary OTA’s.
The extension is reported to be a 4-year, $56.75 million deal that includes $28 million in guaranteed money at signing. The deal will average $14.1875 million annually.
Reports just a few days ago that the Browns and David Njoku were close to an agreement turned out to be accurate. Njoku wasn’t attending OTA’s while waiting for a contract extension. It was also reported more than a week ago that the Browns had an offer between $13-14 million on the table.
